About Division A
Division A was formally formed at the District Council Meeting on 15 May 2009 at the Hong Kong Annual Convention.
DTM Michael Rodrigues and his
District 80 Alignment Committee took more than six months and 4 working meetings to make sure that after considering the realignment across the whole District 80,
the setup of the new division and the transition of those affected clubs were organised properly.
Why Division A?
The main objective of forming a new Division was to address the increasing Singapore network of clubs.
The other reason for the creation of a new Division was to prepare for the eventual departure of
Divisions H and K which will join China in
District 85.
At the onset of the exercise,
Division D in itself would be able to support the formation of a new Division by splitting into two because Division D had a stable of 41 clubs. That’s why the majority of the clubs in the Division A are ex-Division D clubs.
Division A is also very unique because it is the family home of
Tamil clubs in Singapore.
